Interior of the Temppeliaukio Church

This is the interior of the famous Temppeliaukio Church, also known as the Church of the Rock in Helsinki.  The structure was carved out of a solid chunk of exposed bedrock.

  

 

The bowl of the Church of the Rock is covered with a huge copper roof, suspended by these radiating beams.  Between the slats, natural light is allowed in through skylights.

Many of the surfaces inside the church that are not rock are covered with shined copper.
