This is at the Hermitage, a palace turned art museum.  I almost did not make it inside. As we were walking through the gate, a security guard, speaking in harsh Russian, lowered his arm in front of me prohibiting my entry. Not knowing what I did wrong, I nervously told the guard I didn't understand Russian. Suddenly, his face lit up with a smile and he said, "Oh, you're an American. I'm from Utah." The guard was a Mormon missionary and was supporting himself by working at the Hermitage. It turned out only I failed to coatcheck my camera bag.

This is one of the many fascinating rooms we visited at the Hermitage. The walls are almost as saturated with art as was the cottage on the pennisula in Long Beach.

The Palace of Peter the Great is known as the Peterof and is famous for it's thousands of water fountains.
