The walls of the old city are guarded with a series of towers.  Tallinn is one of the most intact medieval cities in Europe.  These structures were built in the Thirteenth Century.  Each tower has a distinct character and name. One tower (not these pictured) is called Kiek in de Kök, and means "Peep into the Kitchen", and refers to the guards from the tower being able to look into the kitchens of nearby homes to see what was for dinner.
